
To further strengthen the sense of community within the School, foster a warm and harmonious working environment, and enhance faculty and staff members’ sense of belonging and well-being, the School of Electronic and Computer Engineering (SECE) held a collective birthday celebration on June 17 for faculty and staff whose birthdays fell in the first half of 2026. An Xiaopeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Yang Yuchao, Dean of SECE, Li Qian, Vice Dean of SECE, and faculty and staff members of the School gathered together to celebrate this special occasion. The event was hosted by Ms. Yang Liu, Academic Affairs Officer of SECE.
At the beginning of the event, Ms. Yang Liu warmly welcomed all attendees on behalf of the School and extended heartfelt birthday wishes to the celebrants. She noted that the collective birthday celebration was not only an occasion to mark birthdays but also an important initiative reflecting the School’s commitment to caring for its faculty and staff and fostering a warm and supportive SECE community. She expressed her hope that everyone would enjoy the event and experience the School’s care and appreciation in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.

Deputy Secretary An Xiaopeng delivered remarks, expressing her appreciation for the invitation and commending SECE for its vitality and remarkable development in recent years. She noted that the event reflected the School’s positive, united, and caring culture, as well as its strong commitment to faculty and staff well-being. She reaffirmed that the Graduate School would continue to uphold a people-centered philosophy and strive to create an even better working and living environment for faculty and staff members. She also wished SECE continued success and further achievements in all its endeavors.

In his speech, Dean Yang Yuchao reviewed the School’s major achievements during the first half of 2026. He emphasized that, through the collective efforts of faculty, staff, and students, SECE had made steady progress across multiple areas, particularly in the development of research platforms, laying a solid foundation for the School’s future high-quality growth. On behalf of the School, he expressed sincere gratitude to all faculty and staff members for their dedication and hard work, and extended his best wishes to the birthday celebrants for good health, professional success, and happiness in life.

During the event, Assistant Professor Chen Shaochuan, representing newly recruited faculty members, shared his experiences since joining SECE. He remarked that he had been deeply impressed by the School’s welcoming atmosphere and the kindness and support of his colleagues. Whether in research activities or daily life, he had received tremendous assistance from both the School and fellow faculty members. Participating in the birthday celebration further strengthened his sense of belonging to the SECE family and reinforced his confidence in growing and developing alongside the School.

Amid warm applause and cheerful birthday songs, Deputy Secretary An Xiaopeng and Dean Yang Yuchao jointly cut the birthday cake. The cake symbolized the School’s appreciation and best wishes for its faculty and staff, bringing the celebration to its emotional peak. Participants shared the cake together and commemorated the warm and memorable occasion.

The tea break and interactive games that followed further enlivened the atmosphere. Faculty members gathered together, sharing experiences and reflections from both work and daily life in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Carefully designed games attracted enthusiastic participation, filling the venue with laughter and joy. Through these interactions, attendees strengthened mutual understanding, built closer relationships, and further enhanced the sense of unity and belonging within the SECE community.
